Savory Notes Turns Two: Lemongrass & Gin Drink

Category: Recipe
Tag(s): , , , , , ,

Last year I reflected on what I had learned only after 1 year of blogging.

This year, I think I’ll share with you, some random weird/fun facts about myself. Here we go!

*If you’re feeling sadder-than-usual, I IMPLORE you to just take a simple trip to your doctor’s office and take the first step into helping yourself. Also, if anyone in your life calls you LAZY because of your depression, dispose of him/her. Negativity is depression fodder; you don’t need people around you who will be helping your depression, you need people who are going to help you.

I couldn’t leave this post without a good recipe to go along with it. You may remember awhile back I had a post about DRY Soda infused black rice. I still love DRY Soda, and tried a few of their other flavors to come up with this drink… and because I love gin. If you don’t like gin, meh… use vodka or silver rum.

Ingredients for Lemongrass Soda with Lime and Gin
  • 1 1/2 oz Gin
  • 1/2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme
  • ice
  • DRY Soda Lemongrass flavor
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup (bring 1 C water along with 1 C sugar to a boil in a pot, just until sugar completely dissolves. Cool before using.)
Instructions for Lemongrass Soda with Lime and Gin
  1. Put simple syrup, thyme leaves, and lime juice in the bottom of a shaker. Muddle away! (Muddling is just using the back of a wooden spoon, or a muddler, and crushing the thyme leaves into the liquid, so it’ll release its aroma and flavor.)
  2. Add gin and ice, and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE
  3. Pour into glass, and top with DRY Lemongrass Soda. Garnish with thyme and lime slices.

It’s summery and refreshing, not really the first thing anyone thinks of when they think of “autumn,” but why not have a little mental summer break before the crazy holiday season begins?

*Disclosure: DRY Soda sent me coupons that allowed me to try a bunch of their flavors. Yum!

2 Notes

  1. I love DRY Soda, too! (My favorite flavor is rhubarb.) I haven’t tried the lemongrass yet but it sounds delicious with thyme! Will have to try this.

  2. Amber says:

I love DRY soda!!Sadly, I haven’t seen lemongrass flavor at my local supermarket. Does Whole Foods also carry this brand, if so I will cross my fingers and check and see if they have flavors that I haven’t tried yet!
